Are you aware of what a faith healer can do? Or are you confused about what a faith healer actually is and what they do?

In the modern age, there have been many healers who claim to have a close connection to God, maintained by prayer and sacrifice, and that they are able to channel the Holy Spirit as a result. For faith healers who have become close to God, the Holy Spirit (that is the one who carries out God's work) bestows gifts: gifts of speech, gifts of prediction, and gifts of healing. Many faith healers in this modern day and age are active proponents of the Pentecostal movement which started in America, and according to them the gifts of healing given by the Holy Spirit allow them to do the work of healing that God wants them to do.

The movement of Pentecostalism and healers, which supported faith healing, started in Topeka where a former Methodist pastor practiced. According to those who attended the frequent the meetings, thousands were healed: the blind could see again, the crippled started to walk, and the sick were cured by these healers. Several more people started to take part in the same meetings and they were supposed to have been filled with the Holy Spirit, resulting in the process of faith healing spreading all over the country.

Evangelists like Smith Wigglesworth, who were faith healers that were well known in the 20th century, were roving healers that moved about the world and healed people. These faith healers also claimed to raise people from the dead by taking Jesus' name and telling them to rise up and live again.

Over the years there were thousands more faith healers who rose in popularity. One such healer that became really popular with time was Aimee Semple McPherson. Although she came from very simple origins she worked really hard to make sure that her evangelization and her preaching made her a star all over the USA and Canada. Although she had the gift of speaking in tongues and she could heal physically, at no time did she draw attention to it. Most of her main speeches for conversion and faith in God were about enthusing people to move towards a more spiritual mode of worship and leave all other temptations behind.

Suffice to say that even though Aimee Semple McPherson did have the gift of faith healing, she did not put undue focus on it. But there are thousands of new healers that pop up every day. You will find that preachers like Benny Hinn are also supposed to be faith healers and for their faith healing to work, the patient should have faith in God. Several failed faith healing processes have been attributed to a lack of faith on the behalf of the affected patients.

We don't have sufficient proof to understand how this process of faith healing works, but it does seem to work for some people.
