http://www.witchforum.net/forum/index.php?topic=12427.0 ................................................................................................................................................. Lab grown quartz crystal balls/reconstituted quartz balls « on: July 04, 2009, 10:00:44 AM » I did a search on this topic and did not find anything. So I pose this question to experienced crystal ball gazers. Clear natural quartz crystal balls are prohibitively expensive and if you want a 100% clear ball the only option you have is glass, lab grown quartz or reconstituted quartz balls. According to Uma Silbey the glass balls are not recommended for scrying and the next best is a lab grown quartz crystal ball, she doesn't say anything about reconstituted crystal. I have searched the internet for lab grown quartz balls and all I come up with is "quartz crystal, not glass" and that "our balls are made from high quality quartz sand" or that the are "crafted from genuine quartz crystal". Does all this mean lab grown? I think that it is melted quarts sand and reconstituted into a quartz crystal ball. Does the reconstituted crystal ball have the same properties as the lab grown one? If there is a difference. I know that melting a crystal or diluting it and letting it condense or cool it recovers its crystalline structure (ie the school experiment with sugar solution). Now what's the difference between lab grown and reconstituted? I know the electronics industry uses lab grown quartz for computers and quartz watches etc, and I would assume that lab grown quartz will have the same optical properties as natural quarts ie. that it is birefringent, or if you squeeze or hit it, it produces electricity (Piezoelectric effect) and it has a frequency. If you hold a natural quartz crystal between two crossed polaroids and turn it it will have the effect of turning itself off and on, or passing light in one position and blocking it in another position. You can try this with a couple of polaroid sunglasses - hold one lens in front of the other and rotate the second lens until "extinction" - when no light passes through, then hold your quartz crystal between these two lenses and rotate the crystal - you should see funny things happening to the light. My question is (since I do not have either a lab grown ball or reconstituted quartz one) does the reconstituted and lab grown crystal behave in the same manner as a natural quartz? Do any of you own a lab grown quartz ball and/or reconstituted crystal? How do you find scrying properties for each? Try the polaroid sun-glass experiment with them - is there any difference?
