2 Vietnamese caught for loanshark harassment AsiaOne | Tue, Jan 03, 2012 Two Vietnamese men, both 29, were arrested for alleged involvement in loansharking activities. A witness spotted the two scrawling and spraying graffiti on a wall at a flat along Bendemeer Road on Jan 2. The two then took off in a taxi upon which the witness alerted the police. The police intercepted the taxi and arrested the suspects along Bendemeer Road. A body check revealed the two to be carrying loanshark-related paraphernalia. A marker, a canister of spray paint and two mobile phones believed to contain debtors' records were found on them. Initial investigations suggested that the two men were also the cause of other loanshark harassment cases in Bendemeer. If found guilty both men face up to five years in jail, a fine of between $5,000 and $50,000 and are also liable to receive between three and six strokes of the cane.
