The story of our 1 dollar coin and some other myths of the little red dot

Recently, I heard of Kas narrating about the myth of Singapore's $1 coin.  I remember as a kid, I used to be curious of the $1 coin.  I often ponder, why isit the only coin that's GOLD, and why isit not round like all the other coins.  Then when Kas told us the story, it seems really believable.  I went to google abit about these Fengshui sayings and the origin of the coin and got more then I expected.
All information stated below are extracted from: http://forums.keeptouch.net/archive/index.php/t-28429.html  Here's sharing some myths of Singapore :)
"Why is Singapore the Garden City?"
Looking at Singapore from a birds eye view, you'll notice that she resembles a crab.  Singapore river smbolizes the mouth and she back faces Malaysia.  Cooking a crab turns it red, which is akin to the color of  barren ground.  However, by planting many trees, Singapore would then look green, and not red, hence alive!

"2 Prominent Districts"
Lee runs TP while Goh is in MP.  If you look at Singapore as a crab again, these two locations are situated at the positions where the claws of a crab will be.  We know the strongest parts of a crab are its claws, so there they are.
"Singapore Conquered"
The way to kill a crab is by sticking the chopsticks at the sides of the crab.  Coincidentally, this is exactly where the Japanese attacked and conquered Singapore.
"Kallang River Clean Up"
Why clean up a river that spells different memories for many Singaporeans?  During the 80's recession, the Benjamin Sheares Bridge was just completed.  This bridge suspends over the Singapore river, i.e., the mouth of the crab. This is as good as tying the mouth of the crab, thus choking it which explains the recession. In order to get out of it, one way was to clean up the river so that the mouth is clean and wealth can flow in without obstruction.
"Your $1 Coin"
The one-dollar coin came into circulation at the time of the MRT construction on the island.  Reverend Hong was an expert at feng shui and after taking lots of readings he said that the proposed constellation of MRTs tunnels and the huge amount of metal being driven deep into the Singapore bed rock would sever Singapore's Dragon Vein which is bad, bad, bad for the nation.   Reverend Hong then offered the following advice: "If you want to continue with project, then u must give every Singaporean household – Indian, Malay, Eurasian, Christian, Buddhist, Muslim – every single one of them a Chinese Ba Gua. Or else Singapore will sink."
How can every household own a Chinese Ba Gua without touching the sensitivity of race?  Well, an ingenious idea then struck, and hence our $1 coin is born!  Another similar theory is also used on our Road Tax: If you recall, it used to be round and now,
it's octagonal and it is definitely displayed.
Interesting much?  Myth or not? It's up to the individual to analyse and digest.  I personally find it intriguing and very believable. :)
