Falling coconut knocks teen unconscious

MALAYSIA - A COCONUT tree damaged two houses and injured three people after it fell over during an afternoon downpour.

One of the victims was knocked unconscious by a coconut during the incident in Kampung Sungai Kelong, Kelantan, reported Sinar Harian.

One of the victims, Mohd Hasnan Mohamad, 17, said he and his friends Mohd Azam Zuhairi and Mohd Firdaus Zanuar, both 15, were chatting in the driveway when the tree suddenly toppled.

"It happened so quickly, I saw the roof cave in and put my hands up to protect myself.

"However, I ended up injuring my right arm," Mohd Hasnan said.

"Mohd Azam was knocked out by a stray coconut and collapsed," Mohd Hasnan added.

He said his oldest brother, Mohd Faris, 24, received a head injury when bricks from the damaged house fell on him while he and his cousin were in the bedroom.

Mohd Hasnan said the coconut tree destroyed half of his family's home and also damaged his grandmother's house that was located next to theirs.

The injured were brought to Tengku Anis Hospital for outpatient treatment.
