China ATM assaulting and robbing people atATM machines

A man stole over 80,000 yuan (S$16,444) by assaulting and robbing people at ATM machines. The robberies happened in China's Zhejiang province. Xu Guode would wear a motorcycle helmet, sneak up behind his victims and bash them on the head with a brick before robbing them. He used this method blatantly despite the fact that closed-circuit cameras were recording his movements at the ATM. On November 14, he repeatedly hit a woman until she fell to the floor. Xu robbed her of 3,900 yuan (S$801) in cash and also stole a platinum ring she was wearing. Two days later, a second victim was robbed at 11pm. The man was using his mobile phone while depositing money at the ATM. Xu knocked him unconscious with the brick and stole 47,000 yuan (S$9,661) in cash and his iPhone. A third robbery attempt failed when his victim resisted and gave chase. Police were able to identify Xu through the CCTV footage and arrested him.
