Murderer of Swedish minister stabs inmates: media

Murderer of Swedish minister stabs inmate: media AFP | Sat, Dec 31, 2011 STOCKHOLM - The man who stabbed Swedish foreign minister Anna Lindh to death in 2003 brutally attacked another inmate this week at the Kumla prison where he is serving a life sentence, media reported Saturday. "He stabbed him in the same way he stabbed foreign minister Anna Lindh," an unnamed source at the prison told the Aftonbladet daily. According to the paper, Mijailo Mijailovic, 33, attacked a 21-year-old inmate as they were leaving a work therapy session for prisoners with mental illnesses Thursday afternoon. Without warning "Mijailovic suddenly attacked the victim with a screwdriver. The victim keeled over ... and his clothes were all bloody," a witness to the attack told Aftonbladet. The head of the prison in central Sweden, Kenneth Gustafsson, confirmed to AFP that a "serious incident" had occurred, but would not reveal which inmates were involved. "One inmate attacked another with a sharp object," he said adding that the victim was in hospital in stable condition after several of the stab wounds grazed his liver, while the attacker would be held in isolation until a probe into the matter could be completed. According to Aftonbladet's sources, the 21-year-old had no prior disputes with Mijailovic, who appeared to have picked him out at random. "It could have been anybody," a source told the paper. On September 10, 2003, Mijailovic stabbed Lindh repeatedly in the arms, chest and abdomen as she shopped at the upmarket NK department store in Stockholm without a bodyguard. She died of massive internal bleeding some 13 hours later.
