Mother attempted to throw child out of window Fri, Nov 18, 2011 | AsiaOne A mother was fined $2,000 for attempting to throw her 11-year-old daughter out of their 12-storey Bukit Panjang  flat on Aug 24, at about 10pm. She wanted to commit suicide with her child. The Straits Times reported the child was woken up by her mother, and in her drowsy state, obediently climbed onto a chair placed at the open window of the living room. But she began to struggle when her mother lifted her to throw her out of the window. The Primary Five student screamed: "'I don't want to die. I don't want to jump." A 27-year-old tenant in the flat heard the commotion, and pulled both mother and daughter down from the chair and called the police. The mother, a 42-year-old Indonesian national who is a permanent resident here, was arrested.  She pleaded guilty to endangering the safety and emotional well-being of the child today. Psychiatrists have diagnosed the woman as suffering from schizoprenia and having hallucinations when she committed the offence. She is now receiving treatment and back with her family. She was fined $2,000.
